Precision lathe turned Northern Hickory "WOODIE" Mastertone style tone ring (Janka Hardness 1800-2200) . This tone ring is a duplicate of a flathead style Stew Mac/5 Star ring in all dimensions and can replace any comparable brass ring, removing approximately 2-3 lbs. off your banjo! The tone is a unique rich, deep middle range "growl" minus the unwanted tinniness and overtones of brass, without the sacrifice of volume or drive.
(Other woods/exotics available: Coyote/Granadillo Jh. 2450, Amazon Rosewood, Jh. 2580 Hickory Jh. 1800-2200; Priced accordingly) For a custom made fit "WOODIE" Tone Ring, send us your rim; email us for details.
The great part is you can switch back to your brass ring or go back to the "WOODIE" at your own convenience! Experience the unique versatility, tone and feel of the "WOODIE" Mastertone sound-- you may just not want to go back to brass! (We also make a "WOODIE" arch-top model that will fit your flathead 3/8" skirt rim.)
