Hot off my lathe! A hand turned, very beautiful *Old Growth* dark, and very hard Black Walnut Block Banjo Rim/and "removable* flathead Tiete Rosewood Tone Ring. A great combination of super-hard exotic Tiete tonewood (Sirari) with a *Janka Hardness Scale* of 3280! And very dense Old Growth Black Walnut for a deep, lower-frequency enhancement.
The versatility of a *removable* exotic "Woody" tone ring allows you to go "back to brass" or "return to the Woods", without purchasing another banjo. We have sold several of these on the Hangout and have gotten great feedback on their superb sound/tone and weight reduction (2-3lbs off your aching back!). You will also notice a deeper, middle-range "growl" not achieved by brass rings with the elimination of the "tinniness" and overtones, with no reduction in drive or volume.
Black Walnut Block rim is turned for an 11" Gibson style one-piece flange with all rim rod holes drilled for Stew-Mac hardware dimensions, finished with durable gloss, polyurethane. Below are detailed specifications for this set.
Rim Specifications:
Rim Height: 2 1/8"
Rim Diameter: 11"
Rim thickness: 11/16"
Neck Holes: 35 millimeters centers
Tone ring Specifications:
Ring Height: 1 3/16"
Ring thickness: 11/16" (inner toe to outside skirt)
Ring diameter 11"
