For sale. 1915 Bacon style C ,5 string openback banjo. no12181 Banjo is in excellent condition for age. All original except for repro no-knot tailpiece and Remo frosted head, Neck width at nut is 1 1/4,11 inch pot, no tone ring but has a lip turned at rims edge for a nice tone. Hardly any fret wear at all! dead straight mahogany neck. Some one added ukulele tuners with post for scruggs like tuner effect, was going to remove and plug hole but they work good for fine and different tunings. There is a small hole in heel. probably for tuner button? Tension hoop is stamped Waverly MFG E2
Original friction tuners are in great working shape. bridge is a 1/2 Shubb compensated, Hard wear is incredible . Banjo is setup and ready to play. Action is 3mm at 12th fret, 26 inch scale, plays in tune up the neck. Great bacon neck shape. Very nice playing and sweet sounding, had a skin head on it and it really was sweet, unfortunatly it busted and had this head as back up. Banjo has been well cared for and getting hard to find.
