Here is an awesome set! Some ancient quartersawn BIRCH from "Timeless Timbers" (Tony Pass stuff) fashioned into a 3 tiered block banjo rim turned for a one-piece flange on my lathe. It is gracefully crowned with a beautifully, turned Granadillo "removable" tone ring, snuggly slip-fit and notched for the upper neck bolt (JLS #12 dimensions) NICE! The Birch rim is slightly conical at 9/16" skirt lip (15mm) and about 2 1/8" high, and has awesome amber coloration hues from mineral waters of Lake Superior. Approximate aged at 250-300 years old and super-tight wood grains per inch. Holes are pre-drilled for neck and rim-rods about 35mm centered between the holes (1 3/8") Both pieces are thin coated with the popular Birchwood Casey "TRU-OIL" gunstock finish. We have played these rim/tone ring combinations for some time now and they sound very impressive! Much more mid-range "growl" and less tinniness, without any drop in volume or low-range frequencies. I love to make them and play them too! Gives your bluegrass sound a new character and you old-timers, much less shoulder strain! (Lose about 4 pounds of brass) HAVE A LOOK-SEE!
