NEW "PINEYWOOD" SPILLWAY DAM BANJO BRIDGE
I've been making some Spillway Dam Banjo Bridges from a design that BHO member xnavyguy and some of his friends developed, except I use the standard horizontal wood grain.
I build these out of Pine, and the design allows the string vibrations to go straight down to the banjo head, from each string. I started putting a hard wood cap on them, as the Pine wood is a softer wood, and I was having some trouble with splitting around the string slots, if I didn't loosen the string pressure. I was afraid it might hurt the tone, to put a hardwood cap on them, but I think it gave them more bass, and didn't loose anything on the high end. I experment with all different kinds of woods, trying to find the best tone possible in a banjo bridge, and was very surprised at the very nice tone, the Pine bridge develoved. The design of this bridge also prevents sagging, which is common on a lot of traditional bridge designs. I have sold several bridges to Banjohangout Members, with great success. Most customers say they love the tone, increased volume, and note separation, the bridge supplies. They seem to work really well on the cheaper, entry level banjos, but also improve the performance of the most expensive banjos.
I can build you any height, and string spacing you wish, standard, or Crowe, just let me know what you need.
I think you will be surprised at how good these Pine bridges will make your banjo sound.
