This Prucha Bat is a professional quality 5 string resonator banjo that is built by Jaroslav Prucha in his small workshop in Prague, Czech Republic. Mr. Prucha and company are known for manufacturing high quality metal banjo parts (flanges, tension hoops, tailpieces, coordinator rods, resonator hardware, tailpieces, and tone rings) that many major American banjo companies (including Gibson, Stelling, and others) use in their banjos. Prucha also makes all the wood parts of his Prucha brand banjos (neck, resonator, rim, and bridge), and carefully assembles them to make a really high quality banjo.
This banjo was built in June of 2004, and is in excellent plus condition (near mint). There is a bit of a patina on the nickel parts (pre-tarnishing that can be mostly wiped off with a soft cotton cloth). There is just a slight amount of fret wear on the lower frets, but very little overall. I can try to take close up pics of the frets if anybody wants me to. It has been professionally set-up (to get its tone quality up to the full potential), and has a full warm tone, but with plenty of clarity. It is set-up with a 5/8" Prucha bridge with Crowe spacing. It plays very easily. The banjo has a flat ebony fingerboard (with 5th string spikes at the 7,8,9,and 10th frets) with bat inlays (thus the name), a single piece walnut neck, and burl walnut resonator. It includes a transferable lifetime warranty. It comes with a TKL American Vintage Series hard case (also in mint condition). This banjo sells new for around 2730 Euros (around $3458 at present).
