I have an absolutely gorgeous and sweet sounding late 1930s/early 1940s thin rim Gibson RB-00 with an original five string hardshell case. The only non original parts of this banjo are the pre-EPA frosted head in nearly-new condition and the modern Presto tailpiece (which replaced the soldered and beaten windowpane (included)). As far as I know not a metal part is modern, from the hooks/nuts to the screws on the trussrod cover. The banjo is also immaculate - from the zero fretwear to the resonator. More importantly, this banjo plays and sounds so darn good - a testament to the unique sound these thin rims generate with no tonering. Accordingly, it is also ridiculously light and if you go from a tonering Gibson to this, you feel like the banjo is gonna float away!
Note: the original case has some edge wear but exact matching period tolex is included to patch the edge - taken off a Gibson tenor case.
If, for some reason, you would rather have a modern flattop TKL, I'll take $500 off the price.
