Here's a fantastic 1929 Gibson "Fat Rim" Style 3 conversion from Steve Huber. The "9488" batch is well know for being fabulous conversions and this one is no exception. The original flange, tension hoop, hooks and nuts have been replaced with Prucha and that's a structural upgrade since the prewar hardware is more fragile (the originals had broken). Prucha is the logical source since it was used by the Gibson factory in the modern era. The remaining hardware is original prewar. The mahogany "Gibson" neck is by Huber with the classic leaves and bows inlay. The rim is fitted with the Huber HR-30 tone ring and the resonator has been oversprayed. As you can hear in the video, this banjo has the classic flathead mahogany tone. If you have any questions or desire additional pictures, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking!
