We, at The Folk Shop, sold many Morgan Monroe banjos, guitars, and mandolins back in the early 2000s. The quality was dependably good for the cost. We sold mainly the higher end MM bluegrass banjos and they always stayed sold.
I don't think that this banjo for sale has ever been played. There is no evidence of wear anywhere! I had to do the normal basic set-up on it (tighten the head, give a little turn to the truss rod, and shave a little off the bridge feet) as I did in the good ole days. It's a lot heavier than I remember (11.5 lbs. or I'm getting weaker). It has a 20-hole flat-head ring with a one-piece-flange which you won't find on any of the Saga built Morgan Monroes. And, it is very good looking! The case is as cherry as the banjo.
This is a good intermediate 'grasser', certainly a major step up from any (don't say it, don't say it) GoodTime (Dang, I said it) or non-masterclone tone-ring equipped banjo in the price offered here-$825 or a really, really great offer.
Yes, the neck is not maple.
