New custom made D28 luthier built guitar for sale. Modeled after a mid 1940s D28 with some improvements for playability/ease of setup for a modern flat pick or rhythm bluegrass guitar player. Out of the box the guitar is bright with fantastic mid range and will make a fantastic instrument as it is broken in and ages.
Spec sheet and sound files can be provided for those seriously interested. Short list of components:
- AAA grade Brazilian rosewood back and sides, sourced from Martin in the 1970s.
- Aged West Virginia red spruce top (like what was used by Martin in the 1940s).
- Honduran mahogany neck with truss rod and larger neck block reminiscent of a 1930s Martin D28.
- Forward bracing pattern with moderately scalloped braces.
- Herringbone trim
- Diamond and flake pattern fingerboard inlay, ebony fingerboard
- Ebony bridge, bone saddle
- 1 3/4" inch spacing at the nut, 2 3/16th inch spacing at the 12th fret
- 2 14" string spacing at the bridge
$6250 (OBO). Price includes CONUS shipping with pictured Hoffee case (like new with some finish scratches from use). Located in SW Florida.
Thanks for looking!
I will be at SPBGMA next week and can have the guitar available for serious buyers.
