This is a modern replica (number 16) of a old HC Dobson 5 string frailing / clawhammer style banjo made in Denmark by Johannes Bonefaas. I am the original owner having him make it for me in 2003. It has a open back, dowel stick design, short scale length
(24.625 “) 11” head diameter, 1 5/16”neck width at the nut. It has a haired pig skin head over a Dobson donut style tone ring. It is referred to as a Ritchie Stearns model with the 5th string mounted at the 6th fret to facilitate playing in A tuning with fiddles, although it can also be played in all the other common old time tunings. It is in superb condition needing no repairs or set up and is ready to go. The goat skin head started to get thin in one area so I put a piece of goatskin on the underside and it has been fine for over a decade. Comes with a properly sized hardshell case and custom made brass armrest. Freshly polished, no tarnish, it sparkles!
Johannes has a two year + waiting list to make his banjos. There are less than a dozen of these in North America. Price is $3600 cash, Pay Pal, no trades.
