This is an older Deering flathead banjo. These were predecessors to the Sierra line and had the original Deering no-hole flathead tone ring and one piece flange. This has a mahogany neck with a custom 10" radius fretboard. It comes with a custom KatEyz capo to match the radius.
This is the loudest and most clearly audible banjo I've owned. When I got it the flange and tone ring were super tight on the rim. I loosened them up and it's so much better now. These older Deering rings are shaped a little bit different than a Gibson and so have a different tone, but they sure are powerful. This banjo weighs 12lbs.
The finish on the resonator has some wear, there are a couple dings and blemishes on the fretboard, and the rim finish is a bit uneven. This is a players banjo for an amazing price. I'm confident there isn't another American-made flathead for sale this cheap right now.
