For sale at the moment is a old Vega 11 13/16th rim tubaphone conversion banjo
I bought the pot a long time ago, maybe 7-8 years and put the box under my bed until I could get funds, find a suitable neck or have one built
Waited for a Fawley neck to pop up, it didn’t
Checked with a lot of builders, wasn’t their style or too far behind etc
Finally found Mr Hickler
After some discussion, and a wait period, he was able to complete the neck and did a bang up job of it ! Very nicely done ! I have the build spec sheet somewhere in email I’ll have to dig up, but more of a standard scale length for a Vega banjo
Neck is still like new , no wear
Pot wood, tuba phone ring in very nice condition , with original hooks/nuts , as a important side note, the original metal has all been chromed , not by me, but was taken apart chromed and never finished when I got it, so it’s sparkling like new, I’m sure some would rather have the patina, well it’s gone sorry
Want to be heard? Want to play some claw hammer? How about slap in the bluegrass picks once in a while ? Very versatile
I didn’t really have plans on selling, in fact in trying to downsize, but something I’ve been after for a long time is available and I decided to try and get it , one last one so to speak
