A beauty of a banjo!
Many consider the B&D Silver Bell the pinnacle of banjo construction, as many of you know.
Made in Groton, Connecticut , very few original 5 stringers exist.
This example has the original case, key, and the original bridge!
The resonator is not original to the banjo but is a period B&D resonator. There are no screws but these can be hunted down.
Reproduction Oettinger tailpiece, and Richelieu new old stock armrest.
Someone added a heel cap at some point, see pic.
Balch/Menzies Jamaican Goat head.
The neck is straight as an arrow and plenty if fret life left.
The story is that it belonged to a woman who played in a band mainly in bordellos in Cincinatti, circa 1930s.
