Purchased from a collector in 2021. It has been lightly played the last four years and never taken out of the house (see my review on BHO and what I did to find the "sweet spot" on this stunning instrument). This is a reproduction of the late 1920s Style 5, not to be confused with the Bernie Leadon Style 5 that Gibson released sometime later. It is a flathead walnut banjo, tube and flange construction, rosewood fretboard with wreath inlay pattern, gold plated and engraved. The marquetry and purfling are gorgeous. All gold plating is in excellent condition. I was unable to obtain the number of units produced from Gibson, but with a MSRP of $9.1K in 2004, I suspect there were very few. Ships with theoriginal Gibson bridge and improper tailpiece bracket supplied with the instrument. Fancy OHSC - appears to be made specifically for this instrument. A copy of the original invoice (names redacted) is available on request.
