This neck was built sometime before 2003 by the well-known and respected builder Robin Smith at Heartland Banjo Co. His logo is imprinted on the heel. The neck is made of walnut with an ebony fingerboard. It exhibits the flying eagle inlay pattern on the headstock and fretboard. The neck is unaltered, cut for one piece flange. It is a bit wider that “standard”, for which Mr. Smith was known, as he supplied Bela Fleck with similar necks. It is a 26 3/8” scale, measuring 25 ½” from the tip of peghead to end of heel, 1 ¼“ at the nut, and 2” at the pot-end of the fretboard . The neck is in very good condition. There are a couple of minor surface scratches on the finish that do not even show on photos, and light abrasion lines where the heel meets the resonator notch. Frets 1 – 7 are lightly worn, spikes at frets 7, 9, 10. Several of the inlays have very inconspicuous hairline cracks, no chips. It came to me on a prewar TB 1 conversion, but never seemed appropriate, so I replaced it. This is the most comfortable neck I have ever played. It is ready to go, and should fit any Gibson Mastertone spec. rim with minimal, if any modification. $1100. Including insured shipping in the USA.
