This RB-1 F.O.N. 9527-11 started life as any other RB-1 in this same batch with a full Mastertone decal and coke bottle shaped peghead. The banjo had gone back to Gibson at one point for a new fretboard and tone ring install sometime around 1960 which required the top of the rim being modified. Several of the 9527 RB-1's with the Mastertone label are documented. At a later time, well known VA/NC luthier Olen Gardner re-cut the peghead to the fiddle shape and the fret board and peghead overlay were replaced again with material from Custom Inlay and post-war Gibson hardware. The flange shows "pull" and has the Doehler casting mark. Also the resonator color is original as opposed to the "normal" darker color. Schaller d-tuners are installed and spikes are at the 7th and 9th frets. The frets are the smaller prewar style. If you have any questions or desire additional pictures, don't hesitate to ask.
