1914 Weymann Keystone State original 5 string banjo
A rare bird, Weymann 5 strings are rare enough but this example has a thin maple ply rim, not spunover like most. The neck is quite chunky and substantial and straight as an arrow, very minimal fret wear.
I believe this is the same model used by Clifton Hicks in many of his early videos.
The tuners have been changed out- geared 5th and vintage Page tuners. Older Gryphon Strings bridge. Wire vega style armrest. Otherwise original- all hardware including the elite tailpiece and skin head in nice shape. Some minor chipping of the fingerboard where it meets the pot, see pic.
Very minimal appointments, no fancy inlay but built with that classic Weymann solid construction.
Sounds great!! Hollow and deep yet sharp and clear.
New bump style case.
