This banjo was a special order two-piece flange open-back banjo with dual connector rods, built by Bill Sullivan in 1979 during the early days of First Quality Banjo Supply. I am the second owner. It has a carefully selected "Mastertone" copy tone ring mounted on a thick maple shell. The 3 piece neck is curly maple with a walnut strip in the center. Ebony fretboard has a beautiful snowflake pattern. Tuners work well. Frets have been recently dressed and the neck is accurate and flat. The optional 30-piece flange and resonator set was added by the first owner. This banjo will work for open back clawhammer or bluegrass. It has no marks identifying it as a Sullivan. There are small flaws in the finish on the back of the neck and some binding on one side of the neck near the resonator needs to be re-glued. This is a well built, solid banjo with a powerful woody sound. It is a handcrafted one of a kid. Used hard shell case included. Prefer to sell to a buyer in this region (southern Indiana, Louisville and northern KY) who can play the banjo before buying but will consider shipping. Asking $1100.
