Yarboro Star Flower Banjo - #13
I just got this one in on consignment. Jim Yarboro was a pro luthier (retired) from Texas. He made a lot of conversion necks for old Gibsons and also some very fine banjos. This is certainly one of them!
Features include:
Curly maple neck and resonator
Argentine gray finish
3-ply maple rim
20-hole 'Ryan' tone ring
Tube and plate flange
Grooved tension hoop
Engraved Presto-style tailpiece
Five-star planetary tuners
Ebony fretboard
Dual coordinator rods
"Star Flower" engraved block
MOP inlay and truss rod cover
Spikes at 7, 9-10
Head signed by *JD Crowe*
This banjo has a super comfortable neck, and plays and sounds fantastic! I really love the Argentine grey finish too! If you've never heard or played a banjo with a old Steve Ryan ring, you owe it to yourself to try one.
There's very minimal fret wear showing. No major dents, dings, scratches and no repairs done nor needed. There is normal tarnishing on the nickel plated hardware.
It comes shipped in a nice archtop hard shell case.
