I bought this from Jeff Kramer when his was closing his store. Jeff sold it to me as a stage 3 kit which was a complete banjo but required final shaping of the neck and fretting. Carl Arcand of Second Life Banjos did the final shaping and fretting of the neck and I finish the banjo following Jeff's instructions with 10 coats of Tru-oil. Here are the specs that Jeff provided prior to my purchase.
Pot Construction
• CloverLick Blockstyle 3/4" thick in Black Walnut, lathe turned to final dimensions, bracket bolt holes drilled for 14 shoe Cloverlick Brass Hardware.
• All Hardware solid brass by CloverLick with 14 bracket hook construction, side drilled tension hoop, included.
• Brass armrest with 1/8" wood top attached for playing comfort in Indian Rosewood.
• Rim bottom dressed with Indian Rosewood.
• Rim Size Rim, 11 diameter X 11/16 thick x 2 3/4 overall depth with tone rings.
• Old time open back bridge placement is 55% of rim diameter on head back from neck. Neck will be configured so this is where the bridge will be.
• Kershner tailpiece.
• Tone ring is EKLectric (1/4" x 1/2" brass scallop ring and 1/4" bronze).
• Remo WeatherKing White Top Frost head.
Neck Construction
• Necks are split construction with a 1/4" center vertical veneer and halves are opposed for stability and strength. Neck wood is Black Walnut.
• Dual permanent carbon filament truss rods for strength, stability, and tone - installed and permanent.
• Face woods for peghead, fingerboard, armrest, and heel plate in Indian Rosewood.
• Fingerboard nut and 5th string nut will be aged old bone, Peghead style cut will be deluxe Smooth CloverLick. Flat fingerboard overall neck thickness of 13/16".
• Fretted scale length will be 26 3/16 with 19 fretted positions.
• Neck at the nut will be 1 7/16. This is slightly wider than most banjos today and makes for easier fingering.
• Mini railroad spike installed on 7th and 9th frets on fifth string.
• Tuners are 4 brass Gotoh tuners and brass capstan style 5th string tuner.
• The fifth string tuner on Foxville is between the 4th and 5th frets.
• Old time style dowel stick and custom hardware, fully cut and fitted to rim and neck.
