Gibson tenor banjo, 40 hole archtop tone ring and original case. Serial # 9308-42 is shown in Spann's book as being a member of group of 1929 Style 3's, with various neck configurations.
This banjo is in what I'm calling Very Good condition with no damage or repairs. It has obviously been enthusiastically played in a banjo band as the case sticker indicates. The wear to the armrest, neck and the very old Weather King head is testimony to someone really into the music. I've never seen an older Weather King head.
A very interesting Sears and Roebuck paper bag was in the case pocket, and the case key was inside the bag. Also, a lot of Black Diamond string envelopes were in the case pocket.
The banjo case is remarkably solid and intact considering it's age.
I've included lots of pictures. Feel free to ask questions.
