This is a rare, and hard to find ODE 5 String bluegrass banjo, Model 6500 (also known as the D model) serial no 3-80-76. I bought this banjo from a UK player called Dave Crowley, who was big into the UK bluegrass scene at the time. He told me that he had purchased the banjo from none other than the famous banjo player Tony Ellis. Although, I don't have any paperwork to support this, I might reach out to Tony on social media to confirm one way or the other.
The banjo is in beautiful condition, the neck is made from walnut, what looks to be ebony fingerboard and pearl inlays, with gold plating metal wear. I practiced daily for several years when i first bought it to try and learn this instrument but never reached the standard i would have liked. The reason for sale are twofold. Divorce has hit me very hard financially, and secondly, I am moving into a house that is small and does not have enough space to keep all of my possessions. As the banjo has not been used for many years, it is time for it to go to a new owner who will appreciate its quality and amazing sound.
Happy to answer any questions you might have. Can ship to the US but it will need to be insured. For potential UK buyers, I would prefer collection at my door as I have not been able to find a mail service prepared to cover the value of the instrument.
