This banjo started out as a 19 fret tenor banjo of 1920/30's vintage. Maker of the banjo is unknown. The was neck was modified by removing the old fretboard and splitting the two maple halves apart. A walnut strip was added to widen the neck and a new fretboard and nut were installed. New geared tuners were added. The rest of the banjo is all original except for the head, tone ring, bridge, strings and tailpiece. Some of the metal parts show tarnish. The scale is 22". The rim measures10 3/4" and there is a 1/4" round brass tone ring added. The banjo weighs in at 5 lbs. The banjo sounds good played in multiple styles.
