For consideration: 1929 Gibson Mastertone TB-3 Flathead Conversion Banjo. Serial # 9488-38.
This banjo conforms to all 1930’s Style 3 catalog standards. Including 3 ply full thickness wood rim, 1 pc flange, double bound mahogany resonator with two concentric rings on the back. All nickel plated metal parts. The resonator has been professionally refinished by master builder Mr. Frank Neat which matches perfectly to the 5 string neck that Frank also made. The neck has the Reno/Crowe inlay pattern and double cut peghead design. The banjos original wood rim was fitted with an archtop to flathead conversion tone ring by Sullivan. Sounds and plays like a pre war should. Of special mention is the excellent condition of the flange and all original hardware. It still features its original Grover “Presto” tailpiece, and Grover “Pancake” tuners along with its perfect uncut Mastertone Guarantee Label. All matching numbers are present. Banjo comes with case.
