What is it? A unique and beautiful open back! Overall this banjo is in remarkable condition. I see no neck repairs/cracks etc. The headstock is very finely carved with a nice clamshell effect. The neck widens as it comes to the pot and the frets seem to all note well. The rim in SOLID metal (brass?) - not a spunover but a machined metal with stipling on the outside. The dowel stick speaks for itself- someone must have seen a walrus tusk. Recently mounted a new high quality skin head on it. Has matching fancier friction pegs. The tailpiece deserves to win an award.
Again- not sure of the brand or exact age but the hardware seems 1890s to me. One replaced screw in the rim interior.
Feel free to ask questions. Prefer local transaction but can mail it in a newer chipboard very very well packed.
Thanks!
