Here is something of an odd one that is none the less a great banjo that would also make an excellent five string conversion. The rim assembly is that of a 1957 style 100. The armrest and tailpiece bracket aren’t original and I believe two of the three resonator lugs aren’t either. However, the full thickness rim, resonator, and Doehler flange all have held up very well.
The neck has a 1967 serial number and has all the characteristics of a build from that era. The truss rod cover is replaced.
I have no idea how this banjo came to be. Since it’s not factory original, I’d be willing to sell the rim assembly without the neck for $1075 shipped. It’s a fine banjo as it is though, so I won’t part it out on my own.
Comes in a 70s Japanese tenor case.
