This is a nice clean example of the evolution of the ODE brand. Here is what I have found while researching various Forums. This banjo was very likely built in the Baldwin shop around 1969 using Ode branded components probably carried over from the Ode shop in Bolder, Colorado when it was moved in 1968.
The 5 piece mahogany neck includes both rosewood and maple laminations and has a rosewood fretboard. The tailpiece and tuners are branded Ode and the metal parts are all nickel plated including the notched solid brass tension hoop.
I believe that this banjo is in exceptional condition and comes in the (original ?) Liton case with the ad card and key. The photos show what I believe is the original documentation along with the original tool set. As a package, I consider it to be both collectable and a great example of Chuck Ogsbury's legacy of innovation.
Neats banjo repair refinished the mahogany resonator. It has a new head and includes a like new Lakota leather strap.
