1925 Gibson Mastertone TB-3 Conversion - FON: 8162-10
Good to very good overall condition. The pot appears to be original with two (2) notable exceptions, the pre-EPA Remo head and the four (4) resonator thumbscrews. The screws are reproductions from master luthier, Donald Bryant. The mahogany 5-string conversion neck was masterfully crafted by Chris Sorenson at Companion Banjos. It has a very nice profile, plays easily, and is period correct.
NOTE: The original tenor neck with tuners is included in this sale.
The resonator suffered some water damage at sometime in the past. That area was repaired by Chris at Companion and is now 100% stable. The finish was left as-is for originality purposes.
This nearly 100 year instrument has the sweet tone that BB banjos are noted for. The neck being mahogany versus maple just adds to that in my opinion.
It'll come shipped in a nice archtop Cedar Creek hard case.
