1960's Fender Concertone Deluxe 5 string Banjo
ALL OF OUR SALES INCLUDE A 7 DAY FULL SATISFACTION GUARANTEE
Description
This is not a standard Fender Concertone Banjo at all. Fender made a Deluxe version of the Concertone in the 1960's which very few exist. This banjo not only has Gold and Engraved Hardware but this has FACTORY Keith Scruggs Bump D Tuners and a Factory Gold Geared 5th string Tuner. These versions of the Concertone were top of the line and are extremely rare. This banjo is also in fantastic shape, is all original and is set up and ready to go.
This has a Thick Hard Maple shell and resonator with a Walnut Veneer. The neck is Walnut. The fretboard is rosewood with Inlay going up the fretboard. There also is white and checkerboard binding (Marquetry) on each side of the neck. The Resonator also has white and checkerboard binding with checkerboard concentric rings on the back.
The hardware is Gold and includes a Gold and Engraved Flange and Armrest. The Armrest is engraved with the word Concertone. The flange is a one piece flange and this has a no hole tone ring. All of this is original.
As mentioned earlier this includes not just a gold 5th string tuner but Gold Plated KEITH SCRUGGS BUMP D TUNERS. All of this was factory installed, these are not aftermarket. Those D tuners alone are worth $500-$1000.
I will mention this is also a Heavy Banjo which is to be expected. We have never had one of these at the Banjo Warehouse and will be a very special addition to someone's collection. There is a picture from the 1960's Fender Catalog included in the pics which details the upgrades we mentioned being factory (geared tuner and Scruggs D Tuners).
Condition
This is also in excellent shape, this banjo was clearly well taken care of.
The finish on the neck and resonator looks fantastic. I don't see any wear, the finish is clean. The frets and fretboard look like this has been untouched, all the way down all the frets are clean and look new. This has no spikes or 5th string capo and has never had either.
There is some light wear on the edge of the armrest but outside of that the gold looks untouched also. The gold is in great shape and is more evidence that this was well taken care of. This banjo is a true collector's item.
The case is in good shape as well and is a newer case.
This is set up well and is a fantastic player that sounds great and is also ready to go.
