Description
This is a 1926 Gibson TB3 that was converted to a 5 string with a different but period correct Pre War Gibson 40 hole Tone Ring. This banjo is a fantastic way to get the vintage, old Pre War Archtop Tone at a pretty strong value. This is full of Pre War Parts and has been assembled and set up by Steve Huber.
All of the metal parts are original except for the tension hoop which is new. This includes an original Grover Patent Presto Tailpiece, Pre War 2 piece flange and Pre War 2 piece armrest.
The rim and resonator are both off the original 1926 TB3 but at some point the resonator was cleaned and does not have the serial number showing. The rim has the original rim and stamped serial number.
The neck is a 1982 Gibson RB250 neck and is a good neck for this conversion.
This is definitely a conglomerate of parts but these are good Gibson parts,many of which are from the Pre War Gibson Period. This includes an orange hardshell case that is a good case.
Condition
The banjo is in good shape for an old worn banjo. The resonator has scratching which adds to the vibe. The metal is in really good shape especially for Pre War metal. There is a little wear on the armrest. The finish on the neck is in great shape, the face of the headstock has very minor checking but the back of the back of the neck is super clean. The frets and fretboard are very clean and this has no spikes or capo. If you want spikes we will add them.
The case is in good shape.
Set Up
Steve Huber set this up with a new Huber Head, bridge and strings.
The banjo is a great example of a Pre War Gibson at a great price and is set up to maximize performance.
