For sale is a rare Lyndon Smith fretless. Lyndon Smith is the Uk maker of the Oettinger tail pieces and his work can be found on Banjo Hangout. He has made a few beautifully crafted banjos over the years. I bought this instrument direct from Lyndon a couple of years back and it plays beautifully and sounds stunning but I have decided to focus on other musical projects for a while and this has been gathering dust so up for sale to fund a new instrument.
It was originally built as a half fretless but was converted to fully fretless last year by Slim Jim and he did an excellent job of the fret board as well as replacing the nut and put one of his own bridges on to take the Nylgut strings.
It has Rickard hardware and a goatskin head and Tubaphone tone ring. I am not sure what wood it is made from but the carved Dobson heel and inlays are stunning . It is a 24 inch scale length with 11 inch pot. The combination of goatskin head and Nylguts sound beautiful ! Comes with hard case as in pic
Local pickup in Steyning West Sussex where you are welcome to try this lovely instrument. The fifth string needs replacing and I have a spare set of the correct Nylguts as well as the original bridge. Also included is the hardcase in the pic. It is priced to sell and an instrument of similar quality from a more well known maker would cost a lot more than I am asking for this . It really does need to be seen and played in person to be appreciated.
