It has been a great summer so far and things started out with a Japan tour. One of my dream rhythm sections supported Bill, Chris, and I for this tour and these guys' names are Victor Wooten and Dennis Chambers. They were FUNKY! I have been a fan of Dennis Chambers since I first heard him play on John McLaughlin's "The Heart of Things" in the mid ninties. Since then, he has been my favorite drummer of all time, and now he is one of my great friends. That is him in my profile shot. Like John McLaughlin, Dennis and Victor are great supporters of rising talent and I aspire to rise to their level of success one day. 3 weeks after our Japan tour, I traveled to Moscow to play with yet another inception of the Bill Evans band, featuring soul singer/drummer Josh Dion (Chuck Loeb, Candy Dulpher, Randy Brecker), and bassist Mark Egan. We played for 3 days in Western Russia, and headed further East to play Siberia. Seeing these foreign lands and bringing the banjo to new ears is always exciting for me and the Siberians welcomed us with open ears. (br/)
August: In august I am touring the west coast with another All-star inception of the Bill Evans band featuring Robben Ford, Dennis Chambers, Mark Egan, and of course Bill Evans on tenor sax, Christian Howes and myself. Tour is Aug 1-9 see www.billevanssax.com for details.
