This is a hard time of the year for me and my oldest daughter for reasons I need not bore you with details of. B ut what seems to help(REALLY HELP) is to play and sing a lot. My wife and 2 of my daughters are learning keyboard ,all of my girls and wife sing, and of course I'm learning banjo so we all sit and practice together. Well we have only started this family project recently. I know I have friends here(ONLINE) and around home that I have been neglecting for the past few weeks and I ask you all please forgive me for I have been spending much needed time with my wife and children. AS selfish or unselfish as this may seem for my oldest daughter and myself the time we spend at either nursing homes or children hospitals at this time of the year is not only to bring cheer to them but for us to forget about our pain and loss. So if something is bothering you in a very painful way may I suggest play and sing ,PLAY AND SING ,PLAY AND SING,PLAY AND SING !!! Music is GOD'S natural medication for what ales your soul. GOD bless you all and HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Greg You are right. When my daughter was killed in an auto accident i could not listen to any music for the first few months. As time went along I found my self able to enjoy music again. I knew I was healing. Perhaps that is why the Bible talks about the Angels singing. Our real peace with in, is found when we can sing. It does help us heal. Have a Happy and Peaceful New Year.

You are indeed right, Greg. Playing the banjo and singing Sacred Harp are two of the things that bring me most joy and help soothe painful memories. All the best for 2009!
