Hi all.
I was on another forum where someone posted a Happy Birthday message for his 3yo.
We posted back and forth about finding TAB for kid's songs on banjo.
I also have a 4 & 1/2 yr old who loves to listen while I try to learn the banjo. Real newbie here...struggling on "bile 'em cabbage..." at the moment. Hopefully, I'll get there.

It'd be great to be able to play/practice with some simple children's songs. ALso, could get my daughter into playing as she gets a bit older.

So, please forward any TABS or advice.
Thanks in advance!

joe

I like the very familiar tune, "Turkey In The Straw" for kids. It's not too difficult to learn and if you're creative enough, you can make up tons of different verses for it that'll have the kids cracking up.

Shortnin' Bread will work nicely for what you want. There's an easy TAB in Tony Trischka's '20 Easy Banjo Solos,' which is available form Homespun and comes with a cd.

Ross Nickerson's "Easy Songs for Banjo" includes really nice tabs for I've Been Working on the Railroad, Oh Susanna, She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain, and The Crawdad Song - all classic songs that are great for kids. They're just plain fun to play too!

Also, check out this similar link on kid's tunes from last year.

Hope this helps.

There's a few versions here on the banjohangout.

They're a little tougher than the beginner version I learned awhile back from a Steve Kaufman banjo book.
