Hello all!
There doesn't seem to be a two finger thumb lead version of
Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing here on the hangout, standard g tuning ideally. Could anyone help? Not to worry if you can't, just thought I'd ask.
Regards

Have you looked under the tune name? I believe those lyrics are usually set to the tune Nettleton, at least in the US.

Thank you for replying. Yes, I looked under the tune name, nothing there. I wasn't aware of nettletown. I'll give it a look later. Regards

Mornin', GS!

I'm a retired Episcopal priest; this has always been one of my favorite hymns! Your question led me to do some searching, and while you may have already found this, it may be of some help. It's a clawhammer version, but the poster breaks down the melody (around the 2-minute mark), which may give you some guidance to figure out thumb-lead. After watching it, I think I'm going to play around with it and see if I can add it to my own list.

Good luck with it, and let us know if you're successful.

Best,

Mickey

Hi Mickey,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. Yes, I'd looked around for help with this hymn and did come across the above video. I didn't actually watch it all initially when I saw that it was clawhammer. I'm too much of a newbie to try and change things to thumb lead, but maybe this is a good time to try and learn. After watching it, I found it very interesting - he certainly plays a fine version. Whether I'll get around to it soon, I don't know; it'll be another one on the back burner! Hopefully, you'll create a version too. All the very best.

Regards

Well shoot...
If I have time I could write out a simple tab seeing how Nettleton is the right tune. The A part is first position but the B part goes up the neck a bit...in thumb lead anyways.

Hi bd!

That would be most appreciated, thank you, if you should have the time.

All the best

You're welcome!
It was kind of fun to figure out how I play something.
N.B., the "inside" notes are the melody & you can dress them up as you like.
