Jut tried out my nite hawk banjo . Don’t know much about it but it is very loud and growelly , plays bluegrass ok but really come alive for clawhammer style. I’m not a very good player but it makes me sound good. Can’t say I’ve ever played anything like it. Like the loudest tubaphone you ever heard . I was thinking wonder how it will sound without the resonator and then realized that the resonator was not on! Unbelievable open back sound ! Wish I’d built some 5string conversions with this model. If you ever see one of these pots buy it

The tone ring design in those upper end Slingerland models is fantastic for Irish trad too! I have had a few Nite Hawks through the shop and one sitting for a future project. I also have a Melody King that I've been debating parting out because the tenor neck needs a new fingerboard. If someone is interested in the pot assembly with resonator shoot me a message.

By the way, is it the same tone ring installed on the May Bell style B ?
