I 'm heading to Colorado tomorrow and taking a nice Zach Hoyt banjo with me. In all my past travels I would take a less expensive instrument, but not this time. Does anyone know of an insurance company that offers coverage?
In all of my earlier trips I never had a problem with putting the well protected banjo in an overhead compartment. But now I want the extra protection from insurance.

Heritage insurance. Given your time frame, I don’t know if they can out it in place with one days notice.

A little thread hi-jacking, but I own the 16th banjo made by Zach Hoyt that I bought directly from him about 16 years ago. It is a cherry open back and i have played it in coffee houses, bars, and jams. A great banjo still going strong.

Can't help, but I'd be interested to know as well. I've looked at insurers specializing in musical instruments like Clarion, and they won't cover anything valued less than $3000.
(I also have a Hoyt and have avoided traveling with it, opting instead for my now-backup banjo)

Back to the question. As Alvin said, Heritage is indeed the go-to insurer for instruments. Fair rates; excellent rep.

Just an hour before boarding the plane I was informed that MusicPro would insure my $1200 Zach Hoyt. It cost $175 for the year and I do have a couple of international trips planned early next year. Of course I still wrapped it some in bubble wrap and put it in the Protec bag so all was ok.
