had to go get a new battery for ole red thursday. its been about 5 years since i bought one and it was for her car. i believe it was around 150 bucks.
well they ain't no more..... with a trade in of the old one ,,min cost me
247 dollars........... i was shakey in my knees... i ask if that was right,, he said oh yes sir. 247 bucks for a battery............... i have lived too long.

Terry, that reminds me of when I moved from MB to NWT in 1974.  Beer was $3.05 a dozen in MB.    Day 1 in NWT, at heading home time: "I'd like a dozen Canadian, please."  The bartender sets it on the counter and says. "$6 please." I hadn't paid close attention, so figured he'd mistakenly set up a 24 and said, "Oh, I just wanted a dozen."  Bartender, somewhat dryly: "That is a dozen."

But. I'm not complaining .... pay in NWT was significantly more than in MB ... and looking back, NWT was a GREAT place to find a wife.

Those acid filled EverStart from Wal-Mart are pretty good. I have one on my truck from 2013. I just looked up some, from little under $100 too little over $100.

As I get older my memory gets longer. That doesn't mean I remember more. It just means I remember far enough into the past to get disgruntled . Price changes between 1968 and 2025 are well documented in the useless file within my memory. Anything before 1968 was a naive kid learning about money and how to see it quickly disappear. When I remember buying my first car battery it was around $36. Then I have to remember that my starting wage in the telephone company was $18 a day [before deductions]. So $36 was over 2 days work. Since 2009 I have been living on mostly a fixed income. Since 2009 both kids have left home and making their own money. The fact is that I probably put away more than when I had 2 teenagers. The bottom line is it isn't worth worrying about unless your outputs are continually exceeding your inputs. 1 or 2 months of excessive expenses doesn't count . Most people can ultimately bring spending under control even if it means stretching every dollar till it squeaks.

i have never ran a ever start battery,, but i will start now... looked mine up on line and the equal battery at walmart is 139.00 plus tax.
could have saved a 100 bucks. they are made in the same factory as die hard.

I always search online if I have the luxury of time. Love them or not, Walmart is a great resource for batteries and tires.
2001-2014 Prius 12 volt batteries are hovering around $300 retail. They are 35 amp-hour batteries. You can use 35 ah electric wheelchair batteries in their place. Some tweaking of the battery clamps is necessary but they work fine. Both are sealed gel cells. Wheelchair batteries are $65-90.
Take that you battery bandits!

I get all my food,hydraulic oil,all batteries,jeans,shoes and bird seed from Wal Mart.
Nice Spring Mix greens and avocados.Great choices in hummus,too.

Terry ..... I have bought my last three or four from Costco ..... Interstate for around $175 plus $15 core charge .... you get back $15 when you bring in your old battery.  I put them in myself.  If you buy at one of the auto shops like Auto Zone, they will install the battery for free.
