Is all ..that good...for everybody...

Really? Why not? Who wants to be unsafe and scared of what might happen?

Safety first! That was Dave's motto. Of course, he was also a safety engineer so.... he would think that way.

A post only made more disturbing by the OP's history with explosives...

But, we are NOT safe.

Somebody texting while driving can kill you just as dead as a random terrorist.

And somebody at the head of a nation with nukes might be having a bad day, and decide to launch one.

And one germ or virus, too small to see, can upfucculate your body to where you die, possibly a slow, painful, financially devastating death.

How's THAT for a "GOOD smiley MORNING" message?

I’ll continue to fasten my seat belt, lock my doors when I leave the house and never let the cat out. I don’t leave the room with the stove on, andI always have my phone. So what’s not good about reasonable precautions!?

Mad Hornet - Posted - 05/23/2025:  05:48:47

I have to believe he's referring to some recent Nanny State BS and not things that are generally considered common sense, but I suppose I'll withhold final thoughts until the STUD provides a little more context.

Could it be that the Stud is going to get rid of all his guns?

I'll go out on a limb and say there is zero chance of that.

being careful only started when i was about 35 but by then the damage was done......

Well, as a simpleton of the highest order, I'm borderline orgasmic just knowing that I have "somebody" with my best interests at heart to tell me how to conduct myself* around risk.    wink

Heck, some bozos even think (?) that "adventure playgrounds" have a legitimate place in society.     harryshier.net/docs/Shier-Adve...ounds.pdf

* It's been a challenge, but so far I've been able to resist drinking my vehicle battery's electrolyte.

I was bench pressing at the gym today, without a spotter, does that count?

There are times to take a risk and there are times to be careful. If you're lucky, you know the difference and how to handle it.

There are hundreds of dirty tricks ready to go at any time. Any of these can take any one of us. A healthy mind will filter out a lot of that thinking to the point of being in grave danger. Another healthy mind will have a long list of precautions and rules bringing us to the point of being afraid to leave the house. I was thinking today about an old proverb I learned in recent months. " The sheep will spend all of its life avoiding the wolf only to be eaten by the shepherd."

Reminds me of walking through a hardware store with Junior.

BIG pyramid of gallon paint cans, special sale.

And as we walked around the back of it, I noticed the warning label:

"Do NOT TAKE INTERNALLY"

Pointed out to Junior that it seemed ODD to me, that we live ina country where it is assumed that people who are SMART enough to READ, have to be told "DON'T DRINK PAINT!!"

steve davis - Posted - 05/24/2025:  07:31:49

I guess it depends on one's definition of "unsafe".
I wouldn't play 9 ball for money if I were drunk.
I wouldn't go hunting, driving, entering banjo contests or getting on my tractor after drinking.

And I would never spit on Superman's Cape.

UIMNSHumbleO, unsafe = drinking paint and/or battery acid. ...... and maybe a wee bit of "hey y'all, watch this." devil

..... says the guy that according to family lore very likely drank a small quantity of gasoline when he was somewhere 3-or-4ish years old.
