Hi all,
I just started learning repair work and was gifted a pot that I’m re-necking. I’ve done my best thus far to familiarize myself with as much about styles and early tone rings as possible but I haven’t been able to find out much (really, anything) about this one.
I’ve included a couple pictures, particularly to show the marquetry and the tone ring. It has 20 spaces for tension hooks and came to me with those shoes. The tone ring is nice and heavy, and is just a cylindrical ring with two thin posts to align it on the rim. The rim has four “bearings” under the ring, but they don’t appear to have springs underneath.
I appreciate any help or direction anyone takes the time to offer. I’m going to keep it or give it away when finished, so it’s not about valuation, I’m just curious to find other examples if possible.
Best,
Andy

Many thanks, Bob. You never cease to amaze me. You sold me the “no logo” fiberskin that’s now mounted on it, and it was wonderful to speak with you.
All the best and thank you,
Andy
