Oh - nice tone, nice playing! This tune has such an interesting history.
What do you use for the second chord?

Thank you Lairence! I’m happy you liked my tone :-)

I play a whole tone scale on the second chord...

Right, but what chord are you playing?

banjopaolo - Posted - 03/23/2025:  01:34:54

Laurence Diehl it’s a D7/9 (#11) on tenor I play (low to high) F# C G# E, on five string with G tuning you could play it with 4556 (you will have the ninth one octave lower than tenor) you can move this chord up and down every two fret remaining on the whole tone scale….

My favorite chord! It is tempting to go to the C+ (and could be a sub) but the D9b5 has so much more character.
An excellent rendition of this classic Paolo!

Very good: imaginative and improvisational. I like your chord choices. I hope you post more tunes.

One of the all time great tunes. Excellent rendition Paolo. Improvisation chorus's excellent---'swinging all the way!'
