On this version of Golden Slippers, what is the difference between the slide at the beginning of measure 1 and the slide at the beginning of measure 3?
It uses different symbols, but I do not know what they mean.

Listening to the song, all three slides sound the same, so maybe an error in the tab. Josh provided a link to read tab and it shows the first measure slide, but not the 3rd.

They are identical. They both have "SL" above them for "slide." I prefer the simpler arrangement in Banjo Player's Songbook" by Tim Jumper. banjered

There are different ways of playing a slide depending on whether you slide smoothly over the time given for the 2 notes, slide immediately after the 1st note, or defer the slide until just before the 2nd note. Maybe that's why they are different ? There's no standard for tabbing this so I don't know. But all three sound the same here.

He plays them exactly the same. Software often substitutes abbreviated symbols in the oddest places when measure sizing is implemented. You can indicate slise up, slide down or bend and slide.

When I ask for slides on tabs, sometimes I get the diagonal-looking one, which I don't prefer, and sometimes the one with the arrow, which makes more sense. I haven't figured out the irregularity of the tab program in this case. Good question, though.

Here I have tried to demonstrate different slides and hammer ons in TablEdit.
The slow slide. the ordinary slide and the fast slide uses the slide command. The grace note slide uses the grace note command and choosing slide from 2 fret in the Grace note box.
