Hi, I bought a used PB, it needed a new head, bridge and strings which I have just fitted. Everything is fine, except that the 4th string buzzes at frets 4 to 12. The action is low but the other strings are fine at all frets, the tension on the head is good I think. The bridge is the same height as the one that was on it , but its didnt buzz before? What do I do, tighten the head more (i fear it will explode! A heavier string?
Thanks

Carefully sight down the neck to make sure it is meeting the body on an even plane, & is not slanting in any direction. Also check to see if your neck is twisted or warped. Use a ruler to see if there is any lifting of the frets in that area. Check to make sure your tension hoop is level & not rising above the neck .

My guess would be that the neck is slightly not-plane with the rim. Read about "fret rocker" use with guitars to detect any high frets, but it would be unusual for all frets from 4 to 12 to be high just on that one string.
