hey all! Ive just made this account, im from Australia and have been playing banjo for around a year now! I have a gold tone standard 5 string banjo but decided i wanted a fretless banjo with nylon strings too, i just love how they sound! I didnt want to spend heaps of money on one so decided to build one myself! Im 24 years old and have been a carpenter since i was 18 so figured id know the basic skills haha! I had so much fun building it. I decided to make it completely out of Australian materials so the timbers used are all native including; Tasmanian Blackwood, Blackheart Sassafras and Spotted gum. I finished off the pot with kangaroo skin. I also routed out a section on the neck to slot in an old 2 cent Australian coin! Since these photos i have also put the strings on and it sounds beautiful. I really enjoyed building this and would love to do more! Might need to start making them for folks who want them! You should find the photos on my account, i cant attach them for some reason :)

Nice work. I love to see what can work with Aussie timbers. I have a roo- hide ready for a banjo I’ve made a few eucalyptus banjo’s but here all the eucalyptus is harvested in Brazil.
