Hi, I’ve been playing since December of 2023, having got a banjo as a Christmas gift. I’ve been learning by myself, and for a while was attending weekly guitar lessons. There was a few month period that will be ending soon where I was unable to attend my lessons due to marching season being in full swing (meaning near every weekend was taken up by some sort of game or competition). I think I’d like to pay more attention to the banjo, as I struggle heavily with claw hammer (and any style that isn’t two finger in all honesty). So do yalls have any recommendations?

If you look under Learn and then Teacher, you can search for teachers in Missouri. I’m not familiar with the state. But there are a number of teachers in Missouri and at least three listed in St. Louis.

I am in St. Peters/Weldon Spring. Look up Abby Flannigan. She is a local old time fiddle instructor that may have a lead on someone teaching clawhammer. The only people I know around here are three finger.

David Landreth would be good try look up and contact. Not sure how still active/current on BHO; his info. banjohangout.org/my/Landreth
I believe he still teaches, but IIRC some of his previous students now teach in the area.
