I had a procedure to remove 4 large kidney stones from my left kidney. They used a laser to break them up and suction out the pieces. I have a stint in my kidney now to ease in drainage if anything is left behind. Next Friday I get to do it again with my right kidney.

The CT scan shows one of the stones that is 1cm (10mm).

Ouchie! I had a lithotripsy a few years ago but they didn’t suck out the pieces, just told me I’d pass them out.

Be well, Randy.

So far I haven't had the "pleasure"  and have no indication that it might be in the foreseeable future.  I tell my wife that the pickle juice I periodically take a swig of dissolves 'em before they become a problem.

In any event I hope all goes well.

Do you know if the "65 of 181" down at the bottom means they took images of 181 "slices," and that ^^ particular one is #65?

I have had two bouts of kidney stones some years apart. The first one I ended up in hospital with the pain but peed it out. Not pleasant.

Looks like there is a lot of kidney and/or bladder stone problems for men in my age group.

Saw the images from my scan, and couldn't help but notice that one of the bladder stones was almost SQUARE.

Procedure was the 24th and I'm recovering well.

Meanwhile: Here's my lyrics

===========================

Well, they stone ya so that you can't even walk!

And they stone ya so it's even hard to talk.

And they stone like a knife, for what it's worth!

And they stone ya like a man who's giving birth!

You're gonna howl and scream and groooooan!

Everybody hates a kidney stone!

Well they stone ya when they sneak up on ya, quiet.

And you'll wish you'd watched your exercise and diet.

And you'll holler out some obscene nouns and verbs,

And you'll beg your friends for ointments, pills, or herbs.

You'll try reach out by the Internet, or phoooooone!

Everybody hates a kidney stone!

Now, the pain will make you nervous and afraid!

And you might reach out for hardened lemonade.

And your doctor may suggest lithotripsy,

And it ain't easy finding rhymes for lithotripsy!

At least you know you're not out there, aloooone!

Everybody hates a kidney stone!

Been there and done all this. So for me I know the drill. My advice to the ones that are diagnosed with stones and scheduled for their first lithotripsy when the anesthesiologist says anything about nausea medications listen and ask for it you’ll thank me later. I have a 10cm stone hanging out in my right kidney just have to schedule the procedure.

oh and one more piece of advice if your Doctor mentions stent be advised you will be peeing blood as long as that thing stays in you and uncomfortable as h3LL. Most embarrassing thing is when you go back to have it remove. Hopefully the nurse that assist is not some Wonder Woman clonewink

That's about 4 inches.  Are you sure you don't mean mm?

10mm that sounds like the size of socket that always comes up missing in your or mine metric set. It 10 something I wasn't paying much attention to the size so it couldn't be 4 inches or could it na I'd be in so much pain.

My largest one was 1cm (10mm).  I was picturing the bullet in a 10mm pistol.

Yeah, I get to do it again this Friday.  The stent that is in my left kidney now will be removed while I'm under anesthesia, but there will be one in my right kidney I will have to have removed in a follow up visit after a few days.  I was peeing blood for a couple of days but now it's orange like iodine.  There is a medication that makes it orange.  After tonight I'll be done with that one.

I wanted my doctor to do both kidneys at the same time. He didn't want to because he said it stresses the kidney and would take too long. At this point, I'm glad I didn't get both done. I'm really sore on the left side and have a back ache from the kidney. Glad it's not double.
