Hi community!
I wanted to get a more old timey sound out of my Dirty 30’s RKOH-06, so I decided to put Aquila red nylgut strings on, and upgraded the bridge to a Morris from Elderly.
The first four strings sound great, but I cannot get the 5th string tuning to G without the break-angle becoming too shallow, and the string buzzing and easily popping out of the nut.
The nylgut reds seem to stretch like rubber bands, and even after a week they haven’t settled in. I’ve tried stretching them by hand several times and have run out of ideas.
Any advise, opinions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, everyone!

Well I've never tried it but maybe you could run the fifth string UNDER the tuning post before attaching it to the post. Does the pip slot just need a deeper cut? Try a folded sandpaper for a deeper cut. Stretchy Aquillas? They seem just as "experimental" as the Covid injections so all I can say is "good luck!" banjered
