This was posted in another thread but I thought it would be helpful to have a thread of its own. I really appreciate the way that Mr Deering demystifies doing a banjo setup and goes into a great deal of what is objective and what is subjective.

Good info, but one point(?). Greg says that torque wrenches are not good to use, and his reasons are valid - friction on the threads and flange and mating surfaces IS real. But then he uses hand torque to tighten up the few loose ones. I got a drop mic, gonna check the height of the tension band on mine. That seems a more objective assessment, once the tone is reached. Also agree w/his opinion on D/D.
