Yesterday was my last day as a moderator here’; I notified Eric two weeks ago. No particular reason; maybe it doesn’t have the interest for me it once did. Thanks to all the members who “do things the right way,” and especially to the many who have supported and encouraged me over the years. I am not leaving the Hangout, though I note that I post these days far fewer times than I did in my early days as a member. Take care, everyone,
Bill

I for one will miss you Bill. I'm an admin on another site and I know what a tough job it can be. But you have always been scrupulously fair and will be sorely missed around here. Nothing stays the same for ever and I wish you luck in however you plan to spend your time in the future. Hopefully the banjo will be a part of that future.

I think this is a great pity ! Even though you have ticked me off in the past Bill, I sang Lodi at last nights gig and it always makes me think of you, I hope this does not spell the beginning of the end of BHO.

Hi Bill
If you are still lurking. I'd just like to say THANK YOU for your long and loyal service. Of ALL the Mod's here on the BHO over the past 16 years I have been coming here. I would rate you as the BEST by far. Fair, Firm and Friendly. Best wishes for the future.

Your official and gentle voice of reason will be missed. Hopefully your unofficial voice of the same will remain.
I used to be a moderator of a much larger and unrelated site. After a number of years it just kind of wore me out.

Bill, your careful and evenhanded approach will be missed. Thank you for all of the time you've devoted to making the Hangout a success.

Bill, I want to join the chorus of "thank-you's" you are getting. When I recommend Banjo Hangout to a student or new player, I always mention how well it is moderated to keep the conversations positive.

Youve been a great Moderator. Thanks for keeping things on the up and up Bill.

Great job. You and Sherry have been tested through the years, but the site remains a family-friendly and civil platform. It is a less-than-thankless position given the fights some people have picked only to whine about being victimized by moderators. But you two have stayed the course, which is a huge reason this site has survived. I hope you continue to contribute.

Always fair, always the voice of reason. Thank You for keeping this site, and it’s members on point over the years.

Bill...to say you will be missed as a moderator is a huge understatement. Thank you for doing what you have done for so many years, as your posts have been the epitome of fairness. Best of health and a great "retirement" as you transition.

Bill, you are always an even-handed voice of reason. I hope you can kick back and enjoy the BHO without a moderators head on from now on. Thanks for your time and energy. I'm sure the vast majority of what you did to keep this site a good place to hang out went on out of sight of us members. Thank you.

Who's taking on the task?

Sherry is staying on, and I presume Mike and Peter will pick up some of the load. It's less onerous than it used to be. But I've seen nothng from Eric.

Thank you for your years of dedication to keeping the conversation here civil Bill.

Thanks for you work. This is the only 'social media' I use because a), no politics is strictly policed, and b) most bho-ers are helpful and reasonable humans, at least when bho-ing. Thanks for making it so.

That doesn't surprise me. Eric only shows up to collect the revenue.

Sherry does a super job! She is another strong voice of reason.

I’ve been a moderator on a non-musical forum for many years and know it can be a thankless job, so THANK YOU for your many years of service here!
GStump - Posted - 08/12/2024: 04:02:47
Many thanks and kudos to you Bill! You did a fine job keeping it all on track, and did so fairly and evenhanded! I must also point out that Sherry always did (does) a fine job and was never remiss to personally answer any questions which I directed her way. The moderators have a thankless job for sure!

Thanks Bill for doing what is pretty much a thankless job. Without folks like you there would not be a Banjo Hangout. Enjoy having more time to do other things you want to do.

I think it would be kinda funny if you got in to a fight with some old buzzard, and Sherry banned you !
